Virtual reality might be the next big thing for mental health

At first, tech specialists were of the view that virtual reality or VR would actually damage our brains. However, today their perspective have changed when they realized that VR can in fact improve our gray matter. Breaking new ground in the psychological researches, VR technology has proved to treat stress and social anxiety, while other psychological disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease are yet in the laboratory testing. The main focus of the VR content today is to support the exposure therapy, a treatment for anxiety disorders where patients are exposed to anxiety-inducing stimuli in a safe and controlled environment. Thus, they realize that the threats they were always concerned about are not in fact very dangerous.
